It is now summer time. It’s hot and dry and people want to burn in their back yards to get rid of their leaves and branches or clear a wooded lot.
Remember, the underbrush and grasses are dry and provide a fuel for the fires, which can spread quickly and get out of control.
This happens more than you are aware.
Please follow the ordinance when burning. Those who burn are responsible for any damage to other’s properties and belongings.

STFD3 attended the Memorial Day service at the Lacombe VFW. It was an honor to be invited once again by the VFW to honor the past Veterans that have served our country.
It was also an honor to accept the VFW’s Firefighter of the Year award for one of our own, Captain/Paramedic Edward Rodriguez that was not available to accept his award tonight.
Thanks again to our local VFW Post 8290 for the invitation.
STFD3 would like to congratulate one of our Captains, James “Jim” McQuilkin, for recently passing his Civil Service test period as a probationary captain. Captain McQuilkin is now a confirmed captain with our department. Captain McQuilkin has been, and will continue to be, a great example to our Firefighters and an asset to Lacombe.
We are all fortunate to have Captain McQuilkin serve our community in Lacombe as a career Firefighter/Captain.

This week many of the Fire Departments in St. Tammany Parish are attending a National Fire Academy Course on Leadership in the Fire Service. Great info & knowledge is being learned. Fire District 3 Officers are attending. The course is being hosted by St. Tammany Fire District 1 in Slidell. Ms. Janie Grinell, Instructor, is doing a great job facilitating the course called “Shaping The Future.” It’s great to see our department’s leadership in this class.
